Only two weeks are left before the Geneva Auto Show and Mercedes have a new member of Mercedes-Maybach line-up to show, the “Mercedes-Maybach Pullman”. Pullman as some of you may know has been one of the oldest nameplates in Mercedes’s history and is always associated with the top-of-the-line luxury model with longest length. The Pullman nameplate is coming upto its 50th birthday this year and this new model is the perfect commemoration.
The Mercedes-Maybach Pullman features a full-fledge club lounge in the rear with two executive seats for VIP passengers which face the direction of travel and a complete set of luxurious comforts. The VIP passengers will have the best in class legroom and 60 mm more headspace than the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class coupled with the ease of getting in and out of the car. The rear compartment which is separated by an electronically operated partition also features two folding seats which face to the opposite direction of travel hence comfortably seating four passengers in a vis-à-vis arrangement. If one wants Mercedes offers an exclusive arrangement with only two executive seats and no opposing foldable seats. The executive seats can be adjusted to just about anyone’s liking with the backrest being able to move independently of the footwell and seat reference point and a maximum 43.5 degree and a minimum 19 degree angle of adustment. The cushions are also adjustable both in height and inclination. The reclining seats also feature calf support which can be adjusted to any length and angle. The head-restraints have an extra cushion fitted as standard.
The rear compartment is plush with leather, extending from the roof liner to the door frames and the seat consoles. The roof liner features three analogue instruments which keep the VIP passengers updated with the outside temperature, speed and most importantly time. The partition between the front and rear of the car features glass which cannot only be lowered but can also be turned from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button and this coupled with the standard curtains on the door windows give the perfect control of privacy. There is also a standard 16:9 format 18.5 inch monitor infront of the partition which can be extended electronically. The Burmester® high-end 3D surround sound system is further optimised and features different settings and membranes for the liking of each customers listening style with a further improved appearance of all the elements.
This beast proudly takes up 6.5 meters (6499 mm) in length which is 1.0 meter (1053 mm) more than the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and also 100 mm higher which accounts for the extra headroom mentioned earlier. The top-of-the-range model will be the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman S600 which will feature a biturbo V12 producing 530 hp from 5980 cc and a maximum torque of 830 Nm which is available from 1900 rpm.
Quite apart from providing stately and stylish seating for high-ranking passengers in the comfort and spaciousness for which it is famed, the new Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is of course the embodiment of exclusivity at its highest level,” commented Ola Källenius, Member of the Daimler AG Management Board responsible for sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “One can sense the significance and greatness of it in every detail.”
The customers will be able to individualise their Mercedes-Maybach Pullman to the highest of levels and exquisite Maybach paint finishes, which are applied in several layers will also be available to individualise. The price for the unarmored version will start around half a million euros with first deliveries made in the start of 2016.
The Mercedes-Maybach Pullman as said earlier will be showcased at upcoming Geneva Auto Show which starts on 3rd March.
