Just a few days before the Geneva Motor Show McLaren has revealed the 650S performance figures. The new 650S does 0-100 km/h in just 3.0s and further more it takes only 8.4s to reach a mind boggling 200 km/h. Top speed is reported to be 333 km/h and a standing quarter mile takes 10.5s, yes its that fast!
What’s really interesting is that this newcomer beats one of the most iconic cars in history, the McLaren F1 road car. All that new technology puts the 650S a full second quicker to 200 km/h and 0.6s quicker over the standing quarter mile to the aforementioned F1. And it beats the 12C too in 200 km/h sprint times by more than half a second.
Driving excitement is at the absolute heart of the McLaren 650S. Of course the performance figures are important, and they help boost excitement. But they’re only part of the story. This is a car that’s about feel as well as measurement. – Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive
Wait! Thats not it yet! The 650S also boasts an economy of 24 mpg (11.7 l/100 km) and also a carbon footprint of just 275 g/km making it one of the greenest cars in this category.
The McLaren 650S represents 50 years of road and racing car know-how. Everything we’ve learnt from the 12C and the McLaren P1™ has gone into this car, creating a car with the widest breadth of capabilities of any production supercar. It’s also a new benchmark in pure driving excitement. – Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive
