The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has just won an whopping 4 awards at the 2014 Vehicle Dynamic International Awards. What a staggering achievement! This is because the S-Class had to go through a very rigorous nomination process not by one but two parties, first being the Vehicle Dynamics International magazine’s expert readership of chassis and dynamics professionals and by the magazine’s editorial team. Further more after being shortlisted into the 4-6 final contenders in each category the decision was left to an independent panel consisting of 27 judges from 19 countries.
After the extensive nomination and judging process the S-Class won 4 awards which are as follows:
- “Car of the Year”
- “Innovation of the Year” for the magnificent “Magic Body Control”
- “Dynamicist of the Year” to Dr. Hermann Storp, who led the development of the S-Class
- “Dynamics Team of the Year” to the wider Mercedes-Benz Research and Development Department.
We are very proud of this recognition – I’m not sure any single brand has won so many awards in this category and it’s down to the hard work and dedication of my team for making it possible. When we were developing it, the S-Class aimed to set new benchmarks and be the best car we could possibly make – and dynamics play a big part in this. I’d like to thank the judges for their kind comments – I join my team in being justifiably proud to be presented with these Awards. – Dr. Hermann Storp
Well it is a very well deserved victory for the S-Class as it remains one of the best automobiles in the world and the most diverse class in the Mercedes-Benz range with 4,6,8 or 12 cylinder engines and three hybrid models with two wheelbases. So whenever you buy an S-Class it is very difficult which to choose as you have so many options!
