The Track-Only Brother Of The McLaren P1: The McLaren P1 GTR

Yep you read it right the track-only brother of the Sold-Out McLaren P1: The McLaren P1 GTR is now officially announced. The track-ready monster inherits the “GTR” name from its 20-year-old “24 hours of LeMans” winner McLaren F1 GTR. The name has been specially selected to show how serious the track-only P1 GTR would be as McLaren claims it to be the most powerful McLaren to-date.

McLaren says that with no road legality issues they would be able to make a car that is  not only more powerful but “will see even greater levels of grip, aerodynamics and downforce than the road car”. McLaren intends the engine to produce a 1000PS (986bhp) and other track-only technologies such as race-proven slick tires, a widened track and an aggressive styling.

The track-only version was decided to be produced on the demand by the owners of the McLaren P1. This version will start its production as soon as the 375th example of the road-going version comes off the production line. The programme will be priced at 1.98-million-GB pounds which will include a tailored programme for each driver to build driver capability , exclusive consultations with McLaren Driver Fitness Team and Design Director Frank Stephenson, privileged access to one of McLaren’s racing simulator and participation in a minimum of six dedicated international drive events held at some of the world’s most iconic F1 circuits. The total production numbers of the track-ready version are yet to be decided but it is ensured that it will be strictly limited.
